Performing an eclectic mix of Chicago and Southern blues, big band and jump boogie swing styles, New Orleans street beats and gumbos, the Bond Street Blues Band is one of the hottest and horniest things happening on the North Oregon Coast's throbbing music scene. This Astoria-based powerhouse performs throughout the Northwest region at a multitude of festivals, concerts, and clubs, spreading their pulsating groove from Tokeland, Washington to Ashland, Oregon, and points beyond.

BSBB's lengthy credentials include annual appearances at the Cannon Beach Concert in the Park summer series, a trio of appearances at Portland's Waterfront Blues Festival, and a showcase performance at the Eugene Celebration. The Cascade Blues Association has taken notice, nominating Bond Street for two separate Muddy Awards in 1996. In addition, feature member Johnny Ward has himself been a Muddy winner for his excellent horn solo work.

Bond Street is as much an institution as a musical group. It carries a rich history dating back to its ethereal formation in 1988 out of Astoria's hidden reserve of talented, music-living players. The group has always maintained an inclusive attitude toward the music, and over the years many great players have contributed to shaping the group's current, and most enduring, seven-piece configuration. These many incarnations have produced a uniquely stewed and flavorful musical mixture.

Eatin' Chinese

Eatin' Chinese was recorded live at the Hong Kong Restaurant and Lounge in Astoria in 1993, where the band spent most of their weekend nights that year. Regular members of the band were Maggie Kitson, Joey Patenaude, Tom Peake, Bill Uhlig, and Spud Siegel, as pictured below after a gig at the Umpqua Brewery in Roseburg. Brigido Eduardo, on congas, made a special guest appearance, as he often does during live performances. Calen Uhlig joined the band shortly after this recording was made.
